چکیده
Abstract. We present a new model for the etching and revelation of confined fission tracks in apatite based on variable along-track velocity, vT(x). Insights from step-etching experiments theoretical energy loss rates fragments suggest two end-member structures: constant-core, with central zone constant rate that then falls off toward track tips; linear, which fall linearly midpoint to tips. From these, we construct characterization encompasses all relevant processes, including penetration widening semi-tracks polished grain surface, intersection expansion tracks, analyst selection measure bypass. Both structures are able fit data five sets paired fossil unannealed annealed induced Durango apatite, supporting correctness our approach providing series insights into theory practice fission-track thermochronology. How It Works and Why It Matters
This paper provides simulation practitioners and consumers with a grounding in how discrete-event simulation software works. Topics include discrete-event systems; entities, resources, control elements and operations; simulation runs; entity states; entity lists; and entity-list management. The implementation of these generic ideas in AutoMod, SLX, and Extend is described. The paper concludes w...

This paper is about the effectiveness of qualitative easing; a government policy that is designed to mitigate risk through central bank purchases of privately held risky assets and their replacement by government debt, with a return that is guaranteed by the taxpayer. Policies of this kind have recently been carried out by national central banks, backed by implicit guarantees from national trea...

The composition and spatial arrangement of subunits in ion channels are essential for their function. Diverse stoichiometries are possible in a multitude of channels. These depend upon cell type-specific subunit expression, which can be tuned in a developmentally regulated manner and in response to activity, on subunit stability in the endoplasmic reticulum, intersubunit affinities, and potenti...

Interferon beta (IFNβ) and glatiramer acetate (GA) were the first immunomodulators approved to the treatment of relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (MS) and clinically isolated syndromes. Despite the enlargement of the therapeutic armamentarium, IFNβ and GA remain the most widely drugs and the therapeutic mainstay of MS. Objective: To review the mechanisms of action of IFNβ and GA and main c...

Hyponatremia is a common electrolyte disorder among hospitalized patients and has been associated with increased mortality. Based-on medical history, physical examination (including volume-status assessment), and laboratory tests, patients can be classified as having either hypervolemi...
